EPP Managing Director Steve Merritt joined a panel of 15 judges at Bakers’ Hall in London to decide the Regional Winners for the National Bakery Awards 2023. The panel – made up of experienced professionals in the baking industry – had the tough job of selecting the winners from a strong group of entrants from across the country.

“We saw a diverse collection of entrants, producing a broad range of different bakery products,” says Steve Merritt, Managing Director, EPP. “There were bakeries ranging from long-established family bakeries to new start-ups, and from traditional-style bakeries to specialist niche operations. One thing which remained constant was the level of passion and enthusiasm for the sector, which was a pleasure to see. There was a strong theme of returning to the art of traditional methods, whilst adding a modern twist. We had some extraordinarily difficult decisions to make with such a high calibre of entrants – our congratulations go to all bakeries for their fantastic submissions.”

The winners will be announced at the National Bakery Awards event at 30 Euston Square, London on Wednesday 12 July, where the EPP team will be in attendance.
