Look after your equipment, and your equipment will look after you
When EPP installs new machinery, one of the first things the team get asked is for information about the routine maintenance of the equipment. Fortunately, customers are provided with a manual with every machine EPP delivers. We encourage sites to keep the manual somewhere safe but accessible, so that it can be used whenever training new staff or needing a reminder as required, e.g. on setting up the line.
Hidden within its pages (whether the physical or electronic version) is a raft of helpful tips and advice on maintaining the machine to keep it in the best possible condition.
Clean equipment = happy bakers
And whilst it might not be considered as a “maintenance task,” the first step of looking after machinery is to follow the recommended cleaning schedules. Keeping on top of these regular routines will make a real difference to the performance every day, significantly increasing machine reliability and extending the life of the equipment.
These cleaning tasks will be broken down into:
- On a shift-by-shift basis – including checks to be carried out during the shift such as checking oil levels or cleaning brushes.
- Daily clean down after use – critical areas to check are free of debris and buildup of materials.
- Weekly deep cleans – including accessing and cleaning the harder to reach areas and ensuring all parts are clear of material debris.
Doing these regular checks and cleans will improve reliability, reduce the risk of infestation and, most importantly, make the baker’s life an easier one.
When you need a little extra help
As well as recommended cleaning schedules, the manual includes an explanation of fault finding and, where relevant, error codes that may appear on HMI screens. For the more technically minded, you will also find mechanical and electrical drawings to help identify parts. Using this information can really help speed up support when you need it. The more information you can provide to the team at EPP, the better and the faster we will be able to get you back up and running.
EPP maintenance services
Given the demands that are made on the equipment installed in bakeries, it is inevitable that there will be wear and tear. That is where the team from EPP can help you get the line back to tip-top condition. EPP provides an option for a maintenance contract, using our team of trained and dedicated engineers, which will include regular condition surveys, providing you with a list of recommendations of areas that need to be addressed. Once confirmed the team will return to site to fit the necessary parts and ensure the line is back running efficiently.
A maintenance contract can give you the peace of mind that you are ensuring your equipment is in the best possible condition to deliver reliable performance.
